Dear Friends,
This issue marks the sixth full year of MoonPark Review. Twenty-four issues, evenly spacing out six years of our lives, in quarterly installments.
We’re still a two-person show here at MoonPark, and we’ll admit, it’s getting a bit more challenging to keep up with the submission queue. We aren’t quite the “fast response” market we once were. Responses may take a few weeks, versus a few days, but we do our best to keep our average reply time under a month.
We don’t give prompts or set themes for our issues here at MoonPark. We prefer our editorial choices to operate more organically. However, we occasionally see weird trends in our queue, a string of oddly similar scenarios or story inventories, and we wonder — is it something in the wind, the prevailing mood of the moment, or are we seeing the product of a recent popular prompt?
It’s become a bit of a game for us, actually, to try and guess the latest prompt, based on the spirit of our inbox.
Whatever it is that moves writers to send their prose our way, we are grateful. In this issue you’ll find lions, wombats, cougars, crows, elephants, snakes, and squirrels. You’ll see some unusual workplaces, some celebrities, and some quiet, contemplative moments, too.
A MoonPark Review issue is a quarterly kismet of great prose. Wherever, and however, these gems originate, we couldn’t be prouder to share them all with you.
Happy Summer, Gentle Readers.
Enjoy the moments.
