December 21, 2023
Greetings, Friends,
‘Tis the season, as they say, for a variety of holiday festivities. In America, at least, many of us still in the workforce don’t get a lot of time-off, even at year’s end. We work, work, work, and then, what small respite we have comes loaded with a double-serving of stress. The lines are longer at the grocery and the post office. Traffic can be crazy. The world feels off-kilter in about a million ways. And even in the midst of our celebrations, as we light lights and wrap things in colorful tissue and foil, we sometimes grumble and wish there wasn’t so darn much to do.
Well, there is no better time to hit pause on all of it.
Today is the Solstice, and tonight, the longest night of the year. On this day we are pleased to bestow to each of you a gift – 13 of them, in fact – and a little advice.
Give yourself a few quiet moments during this holiday season. Take a deep breath, pour yourself some tea or hot chocolate, and read something that has the power to transcend the day-to-day, to speak to things larger than ourselves. That’s what we strive to fill our little corner of the literary space with – short prose gems that help us remember that words can enrich and connect, that art is essential, and reading is a reason to rejoice, and be thankful.
Happy Holidays, dear Friends and Readers, from MoonPark to you. We hope you enjoy this, our 26th Issue, on this long December night (and that you’ll return and visit us again, in the new year, too).
Peace,
Mary Lynn & Lesley Weston-Reed
