“Parents make mistakes. You love them, I know you do. You need to cut them some slack. You see, I have a daughter and you teenagers keep refusing to hear us. Did you hear about your brother? Losing a car due to some stupid fight with your parents. You need to live a little. You kids have everything. In my time, I didn’t even have money to eat. You guys eat in fancy restaurants and go to expensive colleges, I mean, this is one of the best times of your life. Look at me: I almost killed someone in a fight yesterday. This is real life. The way things are going, I don’t think you are going to be able to handle it. You don’t know what it feels like to suffer. I am sorry. I want the best for you. I get emotional sometimes.”

Frederico Voroniuk Manica (he/they) wants to become a famous writer one day. Their work has been published in the Oddball Magazine, the Big Windows Review, and in the Queer Toronto Literary Magazine. Frederico currently resides in Brazil. He will probably just keep trying to get published until the end of the world, which will probably happen soon enough.
