Dear Friends,
It’s been quite a winter but the green is sprouting on the trees. The calendar says Spring is here, though we barely believe it.
As a preview of the 13 gorgeous new prose pieces in this issue we offer the following found poem, one line from each:
Staring into the tomato soup,
my therapist says I apologize too much.
Careful like you promised,
we ducked under police tape,
astonished tourists taking snapshots.
Three things happened, instantly:
a new crackdown on dissent;
unrestrained tears stole the show;
you disappeared into the ocean.
I have no interest in turning on the news.
Heading off early to work,
wearing a crisp, white, button-down shirt.
There’s no easy way up.
We couldn’t say it better ourselves.
