Nobody’s Girl

By Lori Cramer

No, I’m not flattered by Jessie’s friend’s attention. I hate the way he leers at me. Cracks dirty jokes expecting a laugh. Spouts bush-league pickup lines as if they’re not ridiculous and insulting. He keeps telling me he’ll write a song about me. Who’d want to hear that?

Lori Cramer’s short prose has appeared in The Cabinet of Heed, Ellipsis Zine, Flash Fiction Magazine, and Splonk, among others. Her story “Scars” (Fictive Dream, February 2018) was nominated for Best Microfiction 2019. Links to her writing can be found at Twitter: @LCramer29.
